Last night I finished the range of black pieces for the chess set, and for a break I made a quick goblet from the same ebony. With all the practice from making the mini chess set I managed to make it 0.2 mm (0.008″) in diameter, quite a bit smaller again than the previous goblet. The stem is as long as a piece of printer paper is thick: the edge of the paper just fitted in the gap for final polishing. Standing on a US penny for size, its drink volume is just about one-half of a billionth of a litre (one billionth of a pint).
So 1 gallon of Easter nectar, mead or wine would suffice to serve a goblet-full to each person on Earth.
